Each year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reveals the most popular surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in the United States. 2018 saw a dramatic increase of around a quarter of a million more cosmetic procedures than were performed in 2017, bringing the total number of procedures to over 17.7 million. The big trend in cosmetic surgery was body-shaping, with increases in both surgical and minimally invasive procedures.
Here’s how the Top 5 in each category ‘ahem’ shaped up for 2018.
The ASPS tracked around 15.9 million cosmetic minimally-invasive procedures in 2018, including:
- 7.44 million Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox) procedures
- 2.68 million Soft Tissue Fillers procedures
- 1.38 million Chemical Peel procedures
- 1.1 million procedures Laser hair removal procedures
- 709,413 Microdermabrasion procedures
The ASPS also reported more than 1.8 million cosmetic surgical procedures performed in 2018, including:
- 313,735 Breast augmentation procedures
- 258,558 Liposuction procedures
- 213,780 Nose Reshaping procedures
- 206,529 Eyelid Surgery procedures
- 130,081 Tummy Tuck procedures
